Practice improvising over common chord progressions with nothing but the metronome as accompaniment. Here I have it set to click only on beat 4 which is challenging but really exposes our time weaknesses. At slow tempos like this there will be a natural tendency to rush, and at faster tempos, we will tend to drag.
