Composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim in 1962 as Garota de Ipanema, the Girl From Ipanema was made famous internationally when it was recorded by vocalist Astrud Gilberto and saxophonist Stan Getz in 1964. It has since become the second most-covered song of all time and remains an iconic example of Brazilian bossa nova music.
